Boss's Decree

"For every brother you bring to our
midst, you may keep a trinket all to
yourself. She will not be sullied or traded, unless you deem otherwise. But should you bring a mare here without a new brother first, then I will consider her property of the Lagoon as a whole
and do with her as I see fit." - Garmr

Rules

• The Lagoon is where homeless stallions come to live as a brotherhood. Mares may not live here except as captives or companions for the Leaders.

• Soldiers keep mainly to fighting, Thieves keep mainly to raiding, and Associates may do both, neither, or act as diplomats. Members may issue their own battles and raids, but should generally consult the General, Marauder or Boss for permission.

• All major decisions are determined by vote, but the Boss maintains order within the Lagoon and has the final say.

• Elections for leadership positions will be held every TLI summer, provided the qualifying criteria are met.

• You can find detailed information about how the Lagoon works on the Rules page.

• Upon election, the Boss can issue a rule for members to follow during their tenure. It is up to leadership to enforce.

Kendry was surprised at the other stallion’s response on two levels: one, that the palomino roan implied that he himself was not necessarily a leader, and two, that he would admit such a thing to Kendry. As the bachelor spoke on, however, it became clear to the young perlino that Rade had accepted him into the Lagoon and was now encouraging him to make his own decisions rather than wait to be told what to do. “Like I said, I’ve got strength,” he repeated with a low laugh. He took a moment to think, and a question occurred to him.

“From what I understand, the soldiers act as a defense against outside trouble, right? Then what is the point of the thieves?” Rade had called the Lagoon a bachelor herd and had stressed the fact that men were welcome to join, but Kendry was certain he smelled mares around. Maybe that was part of the non-conformity the older stallion had mentioned earlier, and if so he was interested to explore the dynamic of the territory— it would certainly be different from the home he’d grown up in. He was deeply curious about the role of a thief in the Lagoon.

He tried to picture himself as a thief, slinking about, and almost laughed at the ridiculous image. Kendry was tall, widely built, and pale— he would stick out anywhere, except perhaps in snow, but even then his blue eyes and the pale, pink flesh near his extremities would give him away. He was handsome, though, and again, if he could learn to exude the kind of charisma Rade had, Kendry didn’t think he’d do too badly in such a role. It all depended on what was expected of a thief in the Lagoon. Perhaps soldiering would suit him better, but he turned his ears toward Rade and waited before making a decision.
