your heart's a thousand colors

----------...but they're all shades of blue

Dogun welcomes her warmly, and Freya relaxes, settling in next to him. "They have been going well." she says. The golden mare chuckles at Dogun's question, bobbing her head in his direction. "I thoroughly enjoy it. It's not as hard as I thought it would be." She rests her blue eyes on his face. "I enjoy greeting newcomers. I just hope the other mares don't have a problem with my position. I would hate for there to be any conflict amongst us." she sighs, reaching down to take a few bites of grass.

There is a moment of silence between them, and then he speaks again. His words take her by surprise, but she retains a calm facade, finishing her mouthful of grass before raising her head and speaking. "Of course." She sighs. "But I understand that there are... differences... between us that may keep that from happening." Sooty lips turn downwards, a look of sadness coming across her pretty face. She sighs again, more heavily this time, pausing to collect her thoughts. "If we are unable to have children of our own, I am fine with that. I would not want anyone else's children but your own, so long as we are together."

Freya knows that having no children - ever - is unrealistic. Eventually her desire will become so strong, and she will stray from the promise she is making now. But, for now, she is happy to remain childless. Perhaps in the future they would find a way, or work something out, but it could wait. She didn't want to spend her youth worrying about the future - she wanted to live for now.
