Tremble, little lion man

It is a mare who finds Dexter first, a little red thing who flits right up the dune before Dexter even catches her scent. Before he can register the stranger's presence she's stepping around to face him, shoving her nose at his with curiosity boldly written in the lines of her body. He takes a startles half-step back, one dark ear falling back while the other remains trained on the mare. He is caught between irritation at her invasion of his space and admiration of her fearlessness. For a moment he does nothing but watch her face stupidly; then, with only the slightest bit of hesitation, Dexter bumps his nose against hers and drinks in her scent.

"You must have a strange definition of perfect," Dexter rumbles after failing to restrain a small bark of laughter. He takes a moment to formulate his explanation, and in that time another desert inhabitant finds his way over to the pale-maned stranger. This one looks a bit like Dexter himself, but this stallion has a dark mane instead of pale and a rather unusual face. He is also a bit smaller, but doesn't seem intimidated by Dexter; rather, he approaches in a friendly manner, less bold than the red mare perhaps but no more hostile. He asks his questions and even seems pleased with Dexter's appearance, though the pale-haired stallion can't imagine why. He accepts the stallion's scent with only slightly more hesitation than the mare's, mostly because Dexter has spent significantly more time around mares than he has stallions, and friendliness between males that are not related is still a rather new concept to him.

"I am looking to escape the Crossing for a while," Dexter says, glancing between the two of them. "I've been living there and can't continue for much longer. I'm not alone." Delinquent wasn't here with him, but Dexter assumed she would be soon. "I'm hoping to find a less public place for a friend and I to spend our time."

He waits for the two of them to consider his words. He has meant to be vague, mostly because he isn't one hundred percent set on living in the Dunes; it is a possibility, and it is better to see how its current inhabitants react to the idea than to just invite himself in. "I'm Dexter," he adds.
