IT'S OKAY FOR YOU TO HATE ME

Water begins to froth with each steady stroke of Lyden’s pale limb that touched the water and drug it around him. Droplets covered both his front legs, part of his hind ones and good chunk of his underbelly. The cool water offered relief to his aching red pale skin that felt like it was burnt to a crisp with the constant heat waves that had been hitting the forest. At first it wasn’t so bad with the vast canopy of trees that offered shade which Lyden choose to hide beneath but with the sudden outbreak of wolves that scampered around his home as though they owned the place, Lyden had been forced to fight them off and in the process he had not only got bitten on his chest that now had a pretty good size open wound that was now scabbed over; his delicate flesh was red with angry irritation.

Groaning Lyden felt his chest ache with the movement he was making and as he finally got himself knee high in the lake the tired king allowed his body to collapse in the water. Cool water from the impact covered his entire body offering a soothing sensation and without really thinking about it Lyden hoisted himself up and went further into the lake before lowering himself again. This time the water not only covered his physic but it kept it covered only allowing where his neck met with his chest and up was exposed to the sun’s rays.

Pale lips quivered as icy blues closed allowing all other sensations to take hold causing our pale leader to drift in and out of a feverish sleep. Since the attack and he had stayed clear of his mares watching them from the shadows and constantly cleaning the bite. He knew enough time had passed that nothing terrible had set in like rabies or a staph infection but his chest felt extremely sore and with the wound not fully being able to heal over constantly ripped open causing more blood to flow. He missed his family and thoughts of them wafted through his mind like the wind did through the leaves of the willows near him. He prayed none of them had come into contact with the horrible beasts and while he sighed heavily began to wonder if anyone would come. Lyden unfortunately by allowing his eyes to shut and force his nerves to relax did not realize that by all the movement in the water before he finally settled caused his deep gash to open again spilling blood out into the lake – from a distance it is definitely visible as the pale water turned a deep ruby
