days are coming she will never forget

It’s difficult to know just where to begin asking questions. It was stupid of course. Satitba was a reasonable mare. If anything she could gain experience of what sort of herds were out here. That would be a step in the right direction. So far, she had done little in the Peak but sit up there and break up a few claims. Maybe she should check out these herds…

“Danks fer com in’ oud ‘ere wid meh,” Satitba smiled at Sable. She could see a few stray pieces of tundra grass. Satitba laughed. Her own stomach was protesting the long swim and the walking. “Ow’s da grass?” She looked at it and prodded it a bit with her hoof. It was not the long grass of the Crossing. That was clear. There were hoofbeats behind them. Satitba stopped and looked out in that direction.

A large mare, heavier than Satitba but shorter, approached. Satitba smiled. She nickered back. The mare came up besides Sable. Satitba slowed her own walk. The mare questioned them and Satitba was curious as to why that was the first question. She could understand it from a stallion. They were territorial creatures. But from a fellow mare?

“‘E’llo,” Satitba greeted, her tone light. “Ah’m Sa’hibuh of da Peak.” She looked at Sable wondering if she should introduce her friend as she had spoken first. She should probably not. She would wait for Sable to speak and they could continue their explanation.
