FROM THE OCEAN SHE RISES skylar cont

When the painted mare speaks, Jörmungandr wonders what Lyden had told Skylar about her. She is not worried about it, but she often wonders what he had to say about her to others and what he thought of leadership. The role comes easy to her but at the same time it is a difficult task and does not always paint her in the best light on first impressions. She has the herd’s best interests at heart though, every second of the day. She knows when to assert her dominance and when to hold her tongue. When Skylar says she is not a disappointed, the bitter thought (and disappointment) of Skylar abandoning them flashes through her mind. She does not speak this though, already aware that her previous knowledge of Skylar could be tainted. ”I have heard much about you too; some good and some bad.” she admits.

Jörmungandr is not entirely sure what she expected Skylar to be like. She had assumed she would be flaky and unfocused or cold and aloof but neither seem to fit. As Skylar’s gaze travels to her pale son and back, Jörmungandr’s blue eyes settle briefly on the palomino duo that was Lyden and Skylar’s daughters. No doubt Joukahainen would have had a more boisterous childhood had he had siblings or any other foals to play with; instead he had only had her and the other adults in the herd. She often wonders if he has been missing out but she had grown up away from other foals too and had not been scarred because of it.

She bobs her head briefly at Skylar’s question before beginning to swing around, “I can guess where he will be, follow me.” Since she was here, Lyden was bound to be close to the herd, watching over them. She does not mind bringing Skylar close to them as she does not appear to be a threat. She waits a moment for Skylar to ready to girls and make to join her before she begins moving back towards the herd. She moves at an easy stride, compensating for the fillies who were likely to be tired, and glances to Skylar, ”If you do not mind me asking, why were you so eager to leave us?”
