The girl's were becoming a handful. Sure as tiny foals the inlet had been a good enough place for them to explore, but not that they had grown bigger so did their appetite for adventure. Soda was always on her toes, always chasing after them whenever they'd sneak off. Though recently the pale mare had been a bit lack on keeping her eye on them. Naomi had listened well to Soda's teaching and she had let the dark girl go off to the crossing, without Alethi tagging along. It was a test, as well as an award for being so good unlike her red dun daughter who still had a lot to learn.
With a heavy sigh Soda moves away from the cover of trees, looking over the small amount of mares that lingered still. Sometime soon she'd have to meet them, but not today. Her eyes move then to Alethi, who was strangely not in an overly energetic mood. Soda's gaze softens, knowing it was because her only friend was allowed to go off but not her. As much as she wanted to go comfort her daughter Soda knew she couldn't. Alethi had to learn.
So instead of approaching her daughter or the others, she heads toward another familiar face. His red color stood out brightly against the freshly fallen snow which brought a smile to her face. "Morning Grai," she softly says as she sidles up alongside him, nuzzling her nose into his neck.
