hold me close so i don't fall apart

Maybe some part of you just hates me

Alexander slept peacefully in between Lyden and Aureila. Both mother and son were deep into dream land with Azazel and Fleyri nearby. Since their births Lyden kept both mares and his children near him at all times. Birth is still heavy in the air and he knew that the pack that invaded their home before are dangerously close to the borders. He could hear them now, in the sweet peaceful silence. One cried a long sorrowful howl making another one follow suit. It sounded like a harmony as the due caused the rest of them to wake from their own slumber and howl longingly into the depths of the night.

The stars that burned brightly rapidly began to dwindle as daybreak began to peak over the horizon. Earlier in the night before the stars began to fade and the sun began to rise, Jormungandr left his side and slipped into the darkness. Lyden being nervous wanted to follow her, he wanted to be there for her during the birth. Sweat had begun to stick to his queen’s buckskin shoulders and chest before she had left. They were the first signs of pregnancy he knew of for contractions he didn’t think he’d ever actually seen.

His head turns in the direction of where she went and just as he bundled up his muscles to go and look for her – she appeared with a bright cream foal at her side. Pale lips curve into an easy smile as he steps away from Alexander who wakes with the sudden movement. His eyes blink rapidly a few times before he felt himself wishing to go back to sleep but he is suddenly jolted away when he realizes his father left. A snort in protest erupts from his maw as the aureate colt finds his legs and lifts himself before wobbling towards Lyden.

Jormungandr halts allowing their daughter to buckle comfortably beneath her. Lyden comes alongside her nibbling at strands of her mane. ”I began to worry, you were gone for quite a while my love” calling her his love felt as easy as it did walking. She did such a wonderful job helping him keep their home intact and safe that he often couldn’t find the words to thank her. She most definitely deserved to be queen and Lyden is certain he had made the right choice in choosing her
.
Alexander comes up to his father and squeals again in protest as his pinners lay flat against his head. Lyden turns his head with surprise and sighs seeing Alex standing near him before his white socked legs carried him around him and in front of him. Alexander stopped to stare at the big bald face mare before offering his nose and began to chew trying to show submission before he flicked his stump of a tail and went to where his sister was and promptly curled beside her wanting her warmth. Lyden just stares and laughs with a shake of his head ”meet alexander honey, he’s well me”. Nodding to his own words Lyden lowers his head to inspect his daughter noticing there was a huge red mark over her face that lead down her neck. ”is this blood?” running his nose over her red furr Lyden lips at her briefly before lifting his head. How strange, it didn't taste like blood.
