Well Mr. Spatz means well, but he is dead wrong. There have been over 2 dozen individual cougar's DNA'd in Michigan. How does he know they are all male? Quite the man cave if so! Lets not get into health class here, but to make that claim is pretty unfounded. As to the claim about "east of the Mississippi", he is dead wrong. A female with kittens was confirmed in Craftsbury, VT in the 1990s. A female with a kitten was confirmed in 2000 in Maine. The one in Maine is even mentioned on the cougar rewilding's website, amoung other places. The evidence is that they have been here in small numbers all long, and really don't need to be "rewilded", just left alone. The terms "documented" and others thrown around are meaningless. They were confirmed. Yes, they didn't get under the cat with a magnifying glass and document what was there, but does that mean all the guys are having a party in Michigan? Highly unlikely.
