The mare nodded slightly and followed her new leader away from the shores of the Bay. While they moved her eyes and ears took in everything around them. If this was going to be her home she was going to need to know the land and what it was like. Three seasons at least, she had just sworn herself. This would give her time to find places of safety, places of danger, and places to possibly hide her child if it would come to that. She could feel the shift of the seasons. Soon the snow would be gone and new life would breath itself into the world. Her stomach took a sickening turn. On one hand, she wanted nothing to do with the creature that was growing inside her; on the other she could not condemn the innocent life for a crime it did not commit. A small thing that brought her comfort as she walked beside the young stallion, if this foal was to suffer it would be by her hands. Stallion or no, she would be able to defend the foal from Nephilim if it came to that.

Black ears flicked to the youth as he spoke to her again. “No, I started in the Crossing.” Her voice was bitter with her disinclination of returning to the area. “From there I came here.” For a moment she studied him quietly, wondering just how much experience the beast had in the world around him.

“Sob story of your colthood aside, how much of the islands do you know?” Tactics started to develop in her mind, she hoped he had at least been off Tinuvel. Even if he had not, she hoped he had been aware of the island enough to know some of its secrets. Learning your home was the first step to keeping what you had safe. Learning the lands around you was the first step to growing into more.
