A cool ocean breeze tosses his sooty dreads off of his muscled neck, revealing scars littered across his tawny hide. As the ocean sighs, Vaaco lifts his dark muzzle to greet this mistress. Her scent wafts into his nostrils, bringing him the salty ocean air. The dawn breaks, with a brilliant splash of orange, pink and crimson. For a moment in time, he can feel the weight of this world, the things he has done lifted off his shoulders. His ashen eyes soften as they fall on the delicate face of Wendy, as the colors light up her features. He, for a single breath, is able to let the pain melt away. The pain of his brother's death, the abandonment and the loss of his dear sister, it was gone for a single moment.

But he could not let it go, he raises his masculine head, and focuses his attention on the horizon line. A shuffling of hooves causes him to swivel an ear at Wendy, but does not look her way. He can feel her tug at a piece sea weed tangled in his sooty dreads, then he can feel her breath upon his muscled neck. He does not flinch nor pull away, as quickly as it happened it was over. A brief touch. An act of kindness, shown to a creature who does not deserve it.

Then just as quickly as the softness touches his ashen eyes, it is gone. In its place, was his stony, cold glare. "We will rest here, eat your fill. You will need your strength for the swim." He had brought her here, to finalize the deal he had made with the Bald Face. Then he would leave with one of the mares, and head towards Paradise.
