I'm coming home....

Braylen

stallion | 15.1hh | palomino tovero | second of the inlet

When Dragomir first entered this world, he was quiet and still unlike his brother. He was not so quick to react until the warmth vanished as both his mother and brother left him to lay upon the ground alone. Letting out a squeak like sound, the chestnut tovero finally seemed to gain some life. Blinking open one bright blue eye while the other was brown with blue flecks, he peered around at the world before trying to stand. Shaky legs did not want to hold him at first, but finally he got the hang of it and nursed till he was full. Sleepy, Dragomir returned to the ground to rest and in the following days as his brother became more adventurous, the red and white colt still stayed close to his mother.

Once, when he was just a day old, Dragomir had been standing beside his mother when he looked over to the trees not far away and saw a pair of blue eyes watching them. Ears flicking forward, Dragomir stared back for a moment before ducking under his mother's belly before looking back over to the shadows. By then those blue eyes had disappeared.

Today, Dragomir had been copying his mother and mouthing at the grass when the first stranger he had meant approached. Head jerking up quickly, the red and white colt watched him approach before retreating to his mother's side to press against her shoulder. Pink nose lifted, his nostrils flared as he drug in the musky scent. Dragomir had scented it upon the wind several times but only now did he put the smell with an actual face.

Braylen had lurked along the borders of the inlet, his hopes high after seeing Isobel. Though in the days of late, his hopes had disappeared to be replaced with disappointment. So much so that the gold and white stallion had even thought to scent Georgiana and Sirena upon the breeze, but even that was only a figment of his imagination. Sighing, the painted stallion turned and decided that he would leave the border. He knew that Abigail would be having their child soon and he wanted to be there for her, not moping about the shore for someone that clearly held no regard for their relationship as the mare who had followed him here did.

As Braylen walked back towards where the herd was, a strange scent mingled with Abigails. As he approached from downwind, the gold and white stallion took in the sight of the mare who had bore him two sons. Surprise filled Braylen but also shame. He had spent too much time worrying about another when he should have been tending to the one he had here with him. Just as he was fixing to turn and leave, the red and white colt looked over and met his father's gaze. Braylen stared back until the colt hid under his mother's belly and it was shame that drove Braylen away instead of drawing him nearer to his family.
