somebody shine a light

These two are alike in one unlikely way. Ailill was not the only one raised in a word filled with magic, superstition, and ritual. This is not the first Rowena has heard reference of faeries, so she thinks nothing of it. She simply accepts it.

Rowena arches her neck in anticipation and an already racing heart beats yet faster as the stallion draws near. His words are full of flirting, and the young mare, her own head full of dreams, melts with them. "For this dance, I'll be all yours, if you'll be all mine.", she reasons in return, and together, they set off towards the falls.

Shoulder to shoulder, the two carry their meeting, wrought with sexual tension, into the shallow pool at the bottom of the falls. Rowena's wet coat shimmers in the afternoon sun, and her feathers swirl with the silver froth of the moving water. In this moment, she looks like a creature taken rise from the waters themselves. Little does she know, her own grandmother was named for the sirens of the deep, and it is from Rusalka, that young Rowena gains most of her appearance.

The black mare is new to the islands. She has never seen the falls, much less learned their secrets. She is awed enough by their appearance, but the thought of exploring beyond what meets the eye is no less appealing, especially with this handsome stranger to lead the way.

There is a small voice of reason at the back of Rowena's mind, warning her of the dangers of what she's doing. All thoughts of how her father might react to her wandering aside, after all, Rowena does now yet know of his plans to trade her, and he hasn't shown much of an interest in her otherwise. She does, however, still remember her mother's lessons on self preservation. Rowena doesn't know this stallion. He could be anyone, harbor any intentions, and sweeping her away to some secret rendezvous would be a perfect way for ill intent to take advantage of her. But as much as Circe taught her daughter about rationale, she taught her daughter to listen to her instincts, and right now, Rowena's instincts urge her to get to know this handsome stranger a little better.

"No, I've never seen, but I would love to."
