 The silver mare flicked an ear lazily at the sound of a nicker, assuming it belonged to a short horse despite its deep sound. But as her head rose and she took in the sight of the massive stallion, all her previous troubles seemed to vanish. The behemoth had arrived so perfectly, just in time to save her from her disappointment and worries. It almost seemed that unknown forces were at work in her life. "These Islands are magical," she decided quietly, her accent lightly covering her crisp words. She turned her head to scrutinize the stranger's massive body.
It had been far too long since Jasiri had seen another draft. She had forgotten how thick and brawny her kind were, and how powerful the prominent muscles looked under a sleek coat. Not only that, but he was tall– taller than her! "Are there more of you?" she demanded, practically shouting over the crashing of the waterfall. She didn't know if she could survive on these Islands if this was the only other draft. She stepped closer to him, reaching out her neck to flare her nostrils and breath his scent in. Still, she could made do. Perhaps he would follow her to her newly claimed home. He would certainly make that desolate piece of rock more welcoming. And if she found more drafts to lead to her home, they could live a peaceful life free of midgets.
She relaxed her straining ears, not even noticing their forceful curiosity until the trilling of a bird distracted her. As much as she wanted a herd full of drafts, the lack of them in this somewhat populated area worried her. She would probably have to make due with a shorter herd.
