The shade of the Forest was lovely and cool, perfect protection from the heat of midday. Septimus circled a soft clearing, examining its qualities as a shelter, listening for the soft sounds of the nearby lake to determine whether or not it was close enough to water. The clearing was well protected by brambles, and a patch of sunlight was able to peek into the very center of it, lighting up the otherwise fairly dark space. It would be perfect for a small family… if he intended on having one.

Which he didn’t. Not any time soon, anyway. He was going to stay on this piece of this island for as long as he could, alone, without going insane. He had not found himself to be a very social creature; in fact, he was rather shy after losing his memories. Reserved was a word that came to mind when he thought about his… opinions on relationships. He didn’t want to open up anytime soon because there was nothing inside him to give, and he was afraid of looking directly into that nothing on accident.

Satisfied, Septimus let out a sigh and found a comfy spot in which to lock his knees and relax. He was not comfortable enough in this territory to sleep yet, but he could doze, and he did so for a few moments before a wisp of scent caught his attention. Another stallion was here. His head picked up and dark ears swiveled forward on alert as the spotted male stepped into view on Septimus’s left.

For a moment he stared at the other stallion, unsure of how to react, but the other nickered in a friendly tone and so Septimus nickered back, ears flicking about with uncertainty. He took one cautious step to turn his body toward Nuru, ears decidedly pricked forward.
”Do you come from the plains on the other side of this island?” he asked.
“I haven’t yet been over that way.”
