I am the razor in the hands of your heart;
And I am the razor in the hands of God.
The golden mare reveled in the calmness of it all, yellow lobes flicked back against her skull as she listened to the rush and wake of the oncoming waves. The sea breeze was delightful, ruffling through her long mane and down her back. She missed the salty winds -- they were so hard to come by in Salem. So when the call of another breaks her trance, Evaline did not not immediately move to investigate. Instead she grumbles internally, angry for being disturbed.
Chocolate eyes search the shoreline in the direction of where the call came. In the distance she spies the buckskin mare with some difficultly -- her coat color blended in naturally with the earthy hues of the Dunes. Evaline returns the call reluctantly, a high pitched whinny leaving her own parting lips before she trudged back toward the shore, this time in the direction of the lone mare in the sand.
The harsh conditions and small numbers in the Dunes meant that Evaline spent more time with Avangeline than she would in a more traditional herd situation. The three traveled together almost constantly, unless Gabbar or Avangeline were taking turns patrolling the terrain, which they did do rather frequently. Silently Evaline wondered if Shamwari's successful steal had increased Gabbar's awareness and interest in securing his home. On the more miserable days, she often wondered who the hell would willingly breach the borders here. Who would want to live here if they had the choice to go elsewhere? Despite this, life in the Dunes was relatively easy. Evaline didn't partake the patrols. Instead she kept mostly to the Oasis. She did and went what and where Gabbar suggested without much fuss. She was bored, but too depressed to do much about it. So while Avangeline and her had chatted some, Evaline would hardly say she'd gone out of her way to be friendly to her.
When the palomino mare meets the buckskin, she nickers lazily in greeting. She assesses the mare and waits patiently for her to say something. Evaline assumed that if she followed her all the way down here, she must have some kind of message to relay from Gabbar.
