GABBAR
He’s prepared himself for the worst, so is not totally surprised when, as Indira’s family comes into view, the buckskin stallion rushes to the front of the small group with a shrill cry. His body language is agitated and Gabbar shifts his weight unconsciously into a ready stance as he prepares to ward off a potential assault. He notes the blood dried down the front of the stallion’s left foreleg and decides he will attack that weak point first if it comes to blows, but the buckskin stops short, eyes dark and unwavering as he challenges Gabbar in the politest way he’s ever experienced.

The Arabian, since he’s not being mauled, glances behind the other male to gauge the distance of the black and white mare but doubts she’ll come barreling in to do anything drastic given the presence of a gangly-legged foal beside her. His attention shifts back to the stallion, then down to Indira who has defied her father’s command by moving only a few paces closer to the buckskin. She stands stiff-legged and trembling between the two males. Gabbar admires the small mare’s courage.

"Yes," he agrees with Indira. "A sandstorm blew her over the border. I’m sure you know how confounding those can be." He’s looking for common ground, hoping to help put the other stallion at ease without rolling over and showing his belly like a cur. Gabbar has done nothing wrong and he knows it. So does Indira. He hopes she can sway her father’s mood to something more favorable. "We haven’t had the chance to meet. As Indira says, I am Gabbar," he introduces himself again, then waits patiently for the other stallion to accept this resetting of the conversation and offer his name as well— or reject it and advance aggressively.

Either way, Gabbar is ready to respond in kind.
