AND SO IT BEGINS

YEVA
In an instant, Yeva’s mind flashed back to being a foal. Her current situation was eerily similar; her tiny and weak compared to the large, powerful horses that surrounded her, and almost completely clueless as to what was going on around her. She imagined she’d have just as clumsy back then too, though no one would have begrudged such a fall from a foal. With Kendry, as the bicolour stallion called him, on one side, and the large black mare in front, Yeva wasn’t sure whether to stand her ground or shrink away, not that she was in any danger of being attacked herself. The only danger posed to the little bay mare was if the two giants decided to clash, and then she’d be in a prime position to be shoved or stepped on- neither appealed.

The gold and white stallion snapped back at the black mare, and Yeva’s ears flattened momentarily when he called her 'the little klutz', although she knew the bite on his tone was not actually directed at her, and she was still not entirely sure what a klutz was. She softened when he said he would expect to be laughed at too, had the same thing happened to him. His gaze fell to her then, finally addressing her questions. ”Oh.” she stated softly and flatly, not quite sure whether to refute the claim that she was clumsy for one simple fall. Her eyes widened a little at his second explanation, he move twitching in confusion. ”I did?” she asked, perplexed. She did not remember eating any ground, though if she did, perhaps that was why it was so funny. It did not occur to Yeva that it was just an expression, not something to be taken literally.

The black mare berated the stallion again while Yeva contemplated being a klutz, eating the ground and the meaning of her life. There was just so much to process, all while still so horribly embarrassed. Soon though, the large mare addressed her in a kind tome and Yeva’s ears perked forward and a first, proper smile found her lips. She liked the mare even more like this, a gentle giant that still emanated a silent strength with every fibre of her being. It felt good to have someone on her side, looking out for her.

Božena told her to be strong and not let others laugh, though Yeva did fleetingly wonder if her embarrassment might have been worse if they’d run to her, expressing serious concern. Perhaps she would have died right there on the spot. - at least then they’d have thought her fall was because she was dying and not just a because she was a 'klutz'. She did agree that she should not others laugh at her if it is not in genuine jest, however, but she could not even begin to imagine how she’d stop them. Yeva was no fighter. ”Is nice to meet you Božena, I am Yeva.” she replied, stretching her nose out to meet the larger mare in greeting. Her eyes then flickered over to the two stallions, ”What are your names?” she asked softly, most of the her earlier uneasiness beginning to split away from her tone.
