This is no ordinary love [Avangeline>>]

It had been days since Shamwari had seemingly appeared out of thin air in the Desert. Her long lost brother, the source of all her pain and distrust from her mother, the stallion she once thought was merely an illusion in her mad mother's mind. Shamwari was real and he was here. He was keeping watch over Valentine's land. He was keeping the Prairie within the family. The chestnut stallion's brash entrance into her life had left her stunned. It was all so surreal. Too stunned to worry so much about Koray and Orhan or even Nephilim. Stunned enough to want to seek out her mother for the first time since she returned to the islands.

Nova waited until the sun had disappeared from the horizon, after the temperatures dropped and the howling winds took over the landscape. She was slowly become acclimated to life in the Desert, and even shivered once she stepped out of the oasis and felt the cool "winter" weather on her skin.

The gray mare did not seek out the rest of the herd, as she usually did once the sun had gone down. Instead, she was pointed in the direction of the Dunes, where in the distance, a dark cloud still hovered and the occasional flash of lightning briefly lit up the sky far ahead. Nova set off at a brisk two-beat trot, hoping to breach the borders of one desert and stepping into another before too long.

When the mare could no longer find the scent of Orhan or Koray among the sand, she thought it was safe to assume she had finally reached the end of one terrain and entered another, even if the deep sand slopes looked the same in front of her as they did behind. The soft skin of her nostrils continued to flare as she searched for her mother's scent, and registered those of unfamiliar horses, as she strode across the Dunes and toward a dark and shaded oasis down a long slop ahead. The top layer of sand was still wet from the storms that had seemingly drenched the terrain at an earlier hour. Lightning still lit up the sky, but the raindrops no longer fell from the dark clouds overhead.

She moved quickly into the comfort of the oasis, stopping momentarily to drink from a deserted pool before wandering into the foliage. She halted, surprised by the sight of a buckskin mare under the purple sky overhead, but whinnied to her nonetheless before trotting over. "Hi. My name is Vita Nova." She said in an eager, friendly tone. She watched the young mare from a safe distance, but saw no reason to feel threatened. "I live in the Desert. But I'm looking for a palomino mare named Evaline who lives here."
