There was nothing that compared to going on adventures with Rhaegal the girl had long ago decided. They were endlessly capable of finding one thing after another to do together and she never tired of his company like she might other wolves. He might be a prince but she didn’t think of him like that, not since the very day they had met as pups and he had dropped a mouse at her paws. It was something different she knew, not like her parents who were imprints, but a connection all its own. And perhaps, she thought, it was more special because they had chosen one another and not let fate decide for them. Still these weighty thoughts could not last long in her excited state as the pair crossed the boarders and began to scour the rocky outcroppings and caves that dotted the crags. She nodded eagerly at his assertion that yes even mighty beasts must sleep somewhere and focused very hard on sticking her nose into every nook and cranny she could find in search of them.
After time her own thoughts began to travel just as Rhaegal’s did as the excitement of trying to find a monster was much more exciting in theory than actual execution. She had begun eyeing the nearby drifts of snow wondering if she aimed well enough and timed it just right if she could push her companion into it. It was then that Rhaegal’s hushed words caught her attention and she shook her slender head slightly to refocus on the task at hand. She moved closer to him, lowering her nose near his to take in the scent he had found. It was not something she had come across before and her icy gaze flitted to Rhaegal with their typical excitement before searching the area around them as if expecting a monster to materialize from thin air at any moment.
Moving past him slightly she followed the trail as best her mother had taught her, though to be honest she hadn’t paid enough attention too often interested in biting her brother’s tail and blaming it on Embla. Still she managed to dredge up the basics and moved slowly weaving here and there huffing out the sides of her muzzle on occasion. With Rhaegal beside her the trail led them to the mouth of a cave and as she set her broad paws on its lip she felt the familiar chill of excitement roll down her spine and her whole body shivered in anticipation.
