Persephone noted the girl’s silence in response to her vague answer, and she was grateful for it. Whether there would ever be a friend to which she would tell the full story to, she did not know, but for now she knew for certain there was no one here that she wished to tell – they were all still strangers, the lot of them. Yet this mare, slowly, was becoming slightly less of one. As the dark girl relaxed, Persephone mirrored her, shifting her weight to one side as she settled to stay here in this conversation for a little while, at least. As the girl began to speak again, she seemed to find her rhythm and the words began to tumble from her lips. Persephone listened attentively as she spoke, her ears pricked forwards and a small smile curling at the corners of her lips. She found the girl’s enthusiasm quite endearing, and watched her with pleasant satisfaction as her eyes began to roam. She noticed that they were blue, bright against her dark pelt, and very pretty little things. “Going back to your roots, then? Seems as good a plan as any, I suppose.” Again, Persephone declined to address the fact that she was doing the exact opposite. At the girl’s mention of the Peak, Persephone tilted her head and stored this interesting titbit away in her mind. “That does sound an intriguing idea indeed, and besides –” She gave a small laugh. “– I’m not sure it would be such a bad thing to get some time away from those men.” Then the conversation was turned back to her, and Persephone paused for a moment to consider her response. She did not have much of a plan as to what she was going to do next, now that she had left her old home on the mainland and found this place to settle on instead. She didn’t particularly plan to make one either, but simply let the winds take her where they would for now. “I can’t say I have much of a plan for you to assist with, unless you have any important sights to see around this place? Although if I find out anything about the Forest and its whereabouts I should like to let you know.” Then a thought occurred to her, obvious but as yet unspoken. “How about your name for now?” she said with a smile, growing slightly more genuine by the minute. “So that I may try to find you again if I discover anything on my travels.” |
