Re(1): The Bird of Summer Posted on July 3, 2017 at 05:04:17 AM by Donna M
My favourite summer birds are the Rose-breasted Grosbeaks. A male is always the first to arrive--April 27 being the earliest and May 1 being the latest. He is soon joined by others. 6-8 adult birds of this species are seen each day during the Summer in the yard at the sunflower feeders and at the birdbaths. Their evening song is the last birdsong heard in the forest at dusk. when the fledglings arrive parents are busy feeding them. Around September 10th they head South again and I miss them right away.
