At first Orhan merely nodded, pleased with her response. When she began speaking of Gabbar, his ears pricked to listen more attentively, and a line formed between his eyes when she spoke of Evaline. His mind had been so worn down and preoccupied that he had all but forgotten about the Arabian stallion who he'd previously held an alliance with. He had met Gabbar only once - and under unusual circumstances at that - but his daughter Indira had helped him break past his misgivings and he quickly warmed to the stallion. He was surprised and disappointed to hear that Gabbar had ended up letting his own herd down, and that Evaline had been hurt as a result.
He wondered also what had become of Gabbar since then. His scent was not on the breeze, and Valve had greeted Orhan alone - had she forced Gabbar to leave the dunes after he had endangered the herd with his negligence?
"I'm sorry to hear that," Orhan finally replied with sincerity. "I've had my own run-in with a Lagoon stallion in the past, so I know how troublesome they can be." He shifted his weight, thinking of the injury he had sustained to his front leg from that fight, and the lameness it still gave him to this day. "I hope Evaline has recovered. I'm not sure if you know, but her daughter, Vita Nova, lives with us in the desert. If you don't mind, I'm sure she would like to visit her mother once she's heard about what happened her."
He bobbed his head decisively. "In any case, I think we can both agree that we don't want anything like that happening again. You have my support, Valve."
