unfettered will fare the fenris wolf

fenrir

Had he ever asked a mare if wanted to chase of the predators herself? He supposed he hadn't, not outright anyway but it's not like he stopped them if they tried or forbid them from doing so. While he tended to be more active patrolling and watching the area, whoever was closest to the predator was normally the one who played the largest roll chasing it off - though he would always join, just to make sure nothing went wrong. He pictured the mares he knew best now and a wry smile found his lips, "Well, put it this way, I would not like to try and stop them". He knew he would get his ass kicked if he tired, mostly because they were relentless and he wouldn't have the motivation to fight back.

The mare’s next question might have taken him by surprise had it not been for her earlier use of the term "breeder". Green eyes met her own bi-coloured ones and had he had brows, they would have been raised. "Would you?" He countered, "That sounds like too empty and meaningless an existence for anyone endure." He could think of a few foolish youths who would jump at an offer such as that, but they would eventually learn the price they paid.

Gods, he thought to himself, imagine not taking part in the raising of your offspring. Imagine all the stories he'd never have heard or lessons he would never have learned had Beyla been the one solely in charge of his upbringing. Some of the other mares may have chipped in, but it was Ragnarök who taught him and his brothers and sisters about their heritage and how to fight and survive. How strange that would have been.
