Rules � The Lagoon is where homeless stallions come to live as a brotherhood. Mares may not live here except as captives or companions for the Leaders. � Soldiers keep mainly to fighting, Thieves keep mainly to raiding, and Associates may do both, neither, or act as diplomats. Members may issue their own battles and raids, but should generally consult the General, Marauder or Boss for permission. � All major decisions are determined by vote, but the Boss maintains order within the Lagoon and has the final say. � Elections for leadership positions will be held every TLI summer, provided the qualifying criteria are met. � You can find detailed information about how the Lagoon works on the Rules page. � Upon election, the Boss can issue a rule for members to follow during their tenure. It is up to leadership to enforce.

ARGENTO

Paradiso�s anger seemed to be building again, and so Gent began to turn away, hoping that a physical invitation as well as a verbal one would encourage his troubled comrade to follow. But Paradiso did not move. His posture was tense, and his voice was curt as a confession spilled from his lips. Gent froze in place, listening with ears pricked and eyes wide, as the stallion explained why he detested the Lagoon and why he had sought it out in spite of everything.

Gent did not know what to say at first. He lowered his eyes to the mud beneath his feet, considering this new information and what he should do with it. If his suspicions were correct and Paradiso was his half-brother� well, he would not be related to Evaline by blood, but it meant that the mare was more or less extended family. Gent wondered what the bachelors who had lived here before him could have possibly done to her that was so terrible - he had known they�d had a bad reputation, but he hadn�t thought they were capable of attempted murder.

Something inside his heart twisted, and when he looked back up at Paradiso, his expression was uncharacteristically solemn. �You have my sympathies. I had not heard about that, and I can assure you I had nothing to do with it. The Lagoon was empty when I came here; the bastards who hurt your mother must be long gone by now.�

He considered something for a moment. Paradiso was clearly hurting, and Gent�s efforts to placate him had not been entirely successful. Perhaps then� all he needed was some sympathy? Some tough love?

�Can I give you my honest opinion?� Gent ventured in a cautious tone, turning slowly to face Paradiso once more and taking a wary step closer, his hooves sucking in the mud. �You are lucky. Your mother may have been hurt, but you said she almost died� She is still alive, isn�t she? If so, then all is not lost, and what�s past is past. You are fortunate, more fortunate than me� I lost my mother about a year ago. I found her body on top of the Peak. She died alone. That�s why I came here� I had nowhere else to go.�

He took a deep breath. �You won�t find any answers here, not with those who hurt your mother gone. The mud and trees and grass - the lagoon itself - they are all innocent and have nothing to tell you. You should be with her, not here where you clearly don�t want to be. You should be cherishing her while she�s still around. I certainly wish I had done as much.�
