QADIR
Qadir's ears perked at Selenium's mention of a favor. He was rather good with them, if the amount past horses asked him for was any indication. Although he didn't get the impression his grey and white companion would ask for anything like the old favors he carried out. He hoped she wouldn't, at least. The whole reason he came to these islands was to get away from horses like that. He grinned broadly at her. No, her favor would probably be accompanying her to Tinuvel or something else pleasantly insignificant enough to not affect him too negatively.

The pale mare seemed more intent on chastising the group instead of helping them, so he turned his attention away from her and instead focused on an approaching black mare. Her familiar gait over the land made it obvious she had lived here for quite some time, or at least had adapted quickly. Her thin form also seemed well suited for staying above the loose sand, instead of sinking into the grains like Qadir. Half the reason he kept his herd in the desert was because the hard-packed, dried dirt was predictable. If he accidentally tumbled down one of these dunes, his size and weight would not be kind to him along the way.

The tiny mare spoke, and the dark stallion smiled sympathetically at her. His troubles with the ocean could have easily gone the same way if he was intent on returning home. Even though these dunes didn't look much like his old ones, any familiar sight would convince him he had made it. Better to live a lie for a little bit than know from the start one was hopelessly lost. "The ocean's a bitch," he agreed, then turned his attention back on Valve. No doubt she was assessing whether or not they were a threat.

"I am Qadir. Selenium and I mean no harm, either. I used to live in a desert, and I wanted to see if I could cure my homesickness by coming here." He flicked his tail absentmindedly and grinned again, his gaze sweeping over the shining dunes. "Of course, now I want to return home more than ever." A shame he couldn't. Or, at least, had the mindset he couldn't. He was convinced if he set hoof back into the sea he would surely drown before he reached land again.

He shook out his mane and huffed gently, his grin still as cheerful as ever. He turned his attention back to the group before he got too caught up in the past. There was no changing it now.
