my mind's like a deadly disease

After everything you’ve done, I can thank you for how strong I’ve become

Despite the chilling winter air, life has breathed itself into the inlet. Of course it’s King took some credit for that. He had searched the commons for new family members, fought to protect what he had as well as done what he considered honorable and righteous. To the tobiano stallion, he had very possibly saved lives. Of course not everyone saw eye to eye with him. To his displeasure, one such equine was Zephyra. Though he yearned to grow a fondness for her as he had for her sister, he found that the more time they spent in one another's company, the more they disliked each other. Optics roamed the ocean front as he contemplated this unfortunate situation, watching with mesmerization at the lapping waves that fought against becoming ice. It seemed he had little hope of winning Phi over, but he felt he must if he was to not lose Dora.

Do you really want to keep someone in your herd that you don’t trust? He asked himself, face steeled against the brush of cold that each wave brought with it. She could easily turn on you, turn others on you. Innocent Jaci, whom you are so fond of. Vita Nova, before she even gets the chance to know you. And of course there’s the problem of Evren. And yet, you want Evren. Why not Phi? Wracking his brain for answers was doing him no good. In fact, the pounding behind his ears had returned with seemingly vicious intent. Orkaan needed a distraction, some other thing to occupy his waking mind. There was his lovely snow angel, or perhaps his beautiful Nymph. Each could ease him with conversation, company. As he turned to search out one of the mares however, he caught a different scent on the wind. Desert still clinging stubbornly to her coat. Since Vita had arrived, he had not pressured her with his presence beyond simply checking in on her. She had offered to come in Brienne’s place, an honorable thing, but Orkaan knew that the creature she once lived with had done something wrong to her. He could feel it.

Shaking his crown he tried to push the throbbing aside so that he might have a pleasant conversation with the femme, though the fawn she carried was not his he wouldn’t deny that he looked forward to raising a child. Family was everything.

His large hooves covered the ground quickly, but not quickly enough to beat the others to her. Normally, the behemoth would have been vastly pleased to see his herd getting to know one another, but Phi’s presence immediately put him on guard. Any glint of joy was gone from his face and his amber eyes burned wildly behind his black tresses. The only thing that softened him was Jaci’s kind face as he watched her introduce herself to the other two vixens. Here we go then. he thought tiredly, suddenly feeling as weary as if he had just come from his battle with Shamwari.

”What a wonderful surprise to see you all here. Vita Nova, I am so happy that you seem well. Phi, Jaci.” He acknowledged them each, his soft muzzle bumping like a fleeting leaf against Jaci’s shoulder. ”I had hoped to gather the herd soon to meet one another but it appears you’ve gotten a head start on me.” Orkaan’s auds remained upright but he felt unease in his gut. Nerves were not normal for the hellion, he was a prideful, confident king. There was something else, something inside him he could not explain as he stood among the three women. He felt the need to protect himself, unwilling to be as loose and carefree as when he had watched the moon with Jaci.
