All my atrocities come by way of reciprocity

I"M CHEWING THE BONES OF MY OWN REPRIEVE
DEATH BE MY DIGNITY

"Your not right in yer head," Brick said aloud to no one, "why must we live here in this place, its so full but empty."The things don't answer him back, only quiet when he didn't want them to be. Brick Master was unsure of why they had decided to make him take this place. He didn't need a place like this all to himself, he could get along just fine without it. But The things that twisted and writhed in the shadows demanded that he do so. They whispered terrible things into his ears and only got louder when the sun went down and darkness claimed the land. It was nearing dusk now and the things were getting bigger, stretching and extending themselves over the terrain. No matter how close he looked he could never get an accurate description of the things as they were always changing and sometimes on occasion they were absent. Today they had milky white optics and he could catch glimpses of their gaping maws, filled with jagged teeth like broken bones.

OH how he hated them, always watching him, always talking, always screaming even when he couldn't see or smell them. They drove him mad at times, drove him to do horrible things in exchange for their silence. Even when he did as he was told they only quieted down for a few hours or a day. They always came back, and when they did they were louder like they were trying to make up for lost time. The most infuriating part was that he was the only one who could see them! Brick had tried many times to get others to see these vile things, but no one ever saw them even when they were literally standing on them. Others called him crazy, called him a liar, but he wasn't any of those things! HE was right and they were the blind ones! "SCREW THEM!," he shouted at the shadows, voice dripping with acidic hatred, "YOU THINGS CAN HAVE THEM!"

He had only bitter hatred for the majority of other equines, those who branded him a liar. Being called mad didn't bother him in the slightest, but calling him a liar had him burning with rage. It wasn't his fault that they couldn't see the things that lived in the shadows, not his fault they couldn't hear the things either. They were all blind, and for that he hated them. In their ignorance they dismissed him as a madman, shooed him away like a insignificant fly. But now things seemed to be changing, but only because the things wished it. He would do anything for them as long as they stayed quiet, and by anything he meant it. If murder and general villainy was the price then he would gladly pay it tenfold.

Brick had been doing as they wished for a good majority of his life, as a colt he had tried to deny them. That had proven to just make them louder and angrier. It was unbearable, all those sleepless nights and sluggish days filled with horror. A angry snort and vicious shake of his neck as he remembers those days. He hated those days and would not stand here and reminisce. So he sets to exploring his new home, his own paradise, not caring as he walked through the shadows as they would never hurt him physically. How funny that his home would be called Paradise, because the only paradise that existed was silence which this place was not. The tropical land had its own sounds, screeching birds and insect droning. That and this place was sticky with moisture, something he wasn't used to in this degree.

Brick master knows that this exploration wont last forever, that this silence from the the screaming wont last forever. So he tries to enjoy it, because he has work to do later. So much work because those things have so many demands. He has to go out and collect others to fill this place up. He cant stay here by himself for long before someone drives him out. He doesn't want to be driven out, doesn't want to make them angry. So he has to go out eventually, venture elsewhere to fight tooth and nail for this place.
