I am the razor in the hands of your heart;
And I am the razor in the hands of God.
Despite how grateful Evaline felt to be able to deliver her daughter safely to the Prairie, her mind was fraught with worry over what she'd discovered in the Forest. The second she smelled him she knew she had to tell Valve. But the situation was complicated. Psychedelic was clearly living in Persephone's keep under a pseudonym. It was all a ruse, a way for him to hide from Valve, from Shamwari, from Gabbar, and from Evaline herself. But how the painted brute had come across their daughter, Evaline did not understand. She was dumbfounded and shell shocked by the whole ordeal. For all this time, Evaline was operating as if she'd never birthed Psychedelic's kin in the first place. It was easier, of course, and more convenient to forget their very existence. But not when they were standing right in front of you. And there she was, Talya, a growing and able bodied young mare, living in the Forest as if nothing terrible had ever happened to her and as if she'd never met her birth mother before. What a surreal and strange experience it had been.
Evaline hadn't shared this information with Shamwari when she had the chance. Her son was too hot headed, and distracted by his hurt pride from losing in battle against Orkaan. She didn't trust him to make the most calculated, rational decision about how to handle this. Not to mention he didn't seem to have the strongest, set-in-stone kind of alliance with his neighbor. Persephone seemed smart and able enough though, and she didn't deserve Shamwari bursting in to demand Psychedelic's head. But the longer Evaline kept this information to herself, the more conflicted she became. While not of the sharpest mind, Talya was living a full and productive life. Persephone clearly cared for the girl, and silently Evaline was thankful she had someone in her corner other than Psychedelic. Evaline firmly believed that Psychedelic didn't deserve to live. He was a monster who inflicted terrible torment upon her. Because of him, and Kasabian of course, she nearly died. He deserved to pay for what he had done to her. But Talya. What was to happen to her upon Psychedelic's execution? Evaline surely didn't want to be held responsible. But would Persephone? There were more questions than answers, and Evaline was tired of having them buzz around in her head.
So the golden mare set out across the Dunes toward her favorite shaded spot in the oasis. There she would wait for Valve's fateful return toward the end of the day, in which she could finally reveal what she'd discovered on Luthien.
