This is no ordinary love

Vita Nova breathes a sigh of relief and seemingly perks up as their casual conversation continues. She's silently thankful for the distraction that Freya offers, a moment in time in which the young steely mare doesn't have to worry about what's next, about her daughter, and can just enjoy spending a few minutes talking mostly about nothing, or at least nothing so dire or pressing. Nova flicks her tail eagerly over her hocks and takes a few steps forward in the direction of the mare. Her ears are still pricked forward and Nova cocks her chiseled head to one side curiously as she listens with interest to Freya's explanation. Her smile widens as Freya confirms that she too, is a mother. The younger mare finds her words comforting. Maybe it wasn't so terrible that Nova pushed Nyah to swim here, after all.

Nova says nothing for a few moments, her crystal blue eyes blinking several times in rapid succession as Freya continues. She would be lying if she said she wasn't curious about Freya and her connection to the islands now. But soon Freya confesses that she used to live here. All of this starts to make sense now. Nova bobs her head with interest and smiles at the mare. "Oh! Well, where do you live now?" She asks, her nostrils flaring momentarily as she takes in a deep, warm breathe.

For a second the young mother's thoughts drift to somewhere else. She wonders what her life would have been like if Nephilim was still here, and the pair had stayed on Tinuvel all this time. Would she had birth Nephilim's children? Would she still be in the Bay now, at his side? Would one day, should she had grown older like Freya here, with strong connections to just one stallion and one home? It all seemed like such a far-fetched fantasy, laughable even, at this point in her life. She was so far removed from Nephilim and where ever the hell the golden, speckled stallion had ended up. It was ludicrous, she told herself now, to continue to daydream of something so silly.

So she shakes her head for a second, tossing the silver locks of her mane abound her topline and snorts, before refocusing on the mare in front of her. Freya asks another peculiar question, one that seems oddly timed with recent events, which seems a little eerie to Nova. "Funny you should ask that." She begins cautiously, watching Freya with more interest now. "I lived through the winter there under a stallion named Orkaan. But he's long gone now. I left before I met the newest one, but I can smell him there. He doesn't appear to have a herd of his own... yet." Nova speaks honestly, seeing no reason or fear to hold any detail back. It's not like she had much to offer anyway. "The Bay next door is run by a mare named Mariel and her family, if you know them. They've been there for a long time, I think."

As she rambles, she's watching Freya now to see if she recognizes any of these names. "Why do you ask?" She finally rebutes, while Nyah continues to sleep soundly behind her.
