Susil Crags

Disaster has struck!
The Crags are a series of rocky formations with small caves and crevices throughout. Many of the lower-lying areas of the Crags have been flooded, however, with water pouring in from the Northern stretches of Moladion. Some paths have been completely submerged, and some are nothing more than a few rocky peaks sticking out of the water. The water is fairly slow moving but begins to pick speed up towards the Grotto, becoming a series of intense rapids and waterfalls as it nears the Grotto's entrance.

The area itself is still traversible. However, it can be risky. Large amounts of debris can enter the waterway, creating bridges at times but also creating dams that break and cause ocassional flash-flooding. Be careful, travelers! One wrong step and you could end up finding out where the water goes.

Kindness is Magic [Dirge]

Winter had come with a vengeance. After the heat of summer had lingered on into autumn, winter had come seemingly out of nowhere. It had seemed as if the temperatures had dropped almost overnight. This would be her first winter on her own; but even as the thought crossed her mind as she picked her way North through the swamp towards the crags, she shook her head. You're not alone, Mags. You have Zanon....and Iromar.

Pausing in her journey, the golden hued female stared unseeingly ahead of her as she contemplated that thought as well. Zanon, for all that he'd tricked her, had showed her more kindness than her family had ever showed her in her nearly two years of life combined. He'd not only given her a place to call home where she wasn't expected to cater to the whims of a spiteful mother, but had also somehow given her the chance at a life within a pack.

He was a bit aloof and didn't spend overly much time with her, but even that had been a pleasant change from constantly being hounded by her half sister. Any less than kind thoughts that she might have had about him were long since gone and replaced only with a growing respect and lingering confusion.

Shaking her head once more, her tall ears flopping with the motion, she started off again, taking note that large flakes of snow had begun to drift down from the sky. She'd woke up that morning determined to start paying Zanon back for his care of her since coming to Iromar. She would do her best to hunt down some sort of offering and leave it for him in his den. He was, as he said, quite busy, and it was the least she could do.

Lowering her nose to the ground, Magpie began her search for a scent trail, her mind still wandering through the various thoughts that followed her most days. For the first time in a very long time, she contemplated the future. Since she become old enough to be useful to her foster mother, she'd more or less been living from one demand to another with little time to think of what was to come. It was while she was lost in thoughts of both the past and the future that the weather began to turn.

By the time that Mag realized that a storm was descending upon her, she was near the border of Iromar and the crags and the winds had picked up. It had been a particularly strong gust of wind that had broken her out of her contemplation and brought her back to the present. She'd been idly following a scent trail without truly paying attention to where she'd been going and it took her a moment to gain her bearings. The flakes of snow that had been drifting before were now cutting as the wind howled through the crags and the trees, swirling around her like angry spirits.

Startled and more than a little alarmed at the thought of being caught out in a winter storm on her own, Magpie abandoned the task she'd set out for herself and turned back towards Iromar and the safety of her den. Before she'd even made it several yards, visibility had been reduced to almost nothing. Ears pinned against her head, Mag narrowed her pale eyes and tried to find something familiar amidst the white. It was no use!

"I can't just stay here. If I just go straight." Forging ahead, Magpie did her best to stay her course. She walked with her head down for what seemed like eternity in the howling wind. There was no way to gauge distance or time when everything was white. Growling softly under her breath, she paused briefly and shook herself out, for what good it did her. While she was trying to make out a landmark of any sort there was a loud crack to her left and she darted to the right as a dead tree branch burdened with heavy snow snapped and crashed to the ground.

Spooked, Magpie ran, not thinking about where she was going. As she ran trees would almost seem to leap out of the snow at her. By the time the panic eased and she slowed her headlong flight, she was hopelessly turned around. Shivering, she paused only long enough to realize that stopping wasn't a good idea and then carried on. The howling grew louder and before long it was rocks and boulders that emerged from the whiteness, not trees.

"Squirrel nuggets! I went the wrong way." Magpie whined, tail tucked between her legs as she looked back over her shoulder. As much as she would much rather be back hiding in her den, she wasn't about to try and turn around. At least in the crags she could find a hole to hide in until the blizzard passed. If the snow wasn't too deep she could make her way back to Iromar then. Would Zanon think she'd run away?

Another whine escaped her as she turned her head back toward the howling crags. Head down and eyes nearly shut, she picked her way through the rising snow and the rocks beneath it the best she could but in attempting to clamber over a snow hidden boulder, her paws slipped and with a yelp she tumbled down a slope and crashed into what at first she'd thought was another snow covered boulder, but it was far more giving than a boulder....and more furry.
