Ain't life just awful strange

a new world hangs outside the window
beautiful and strange
it must be I've fallen awake
I must be

The young filly moved through the enchanting mist, cracking a willful smile as she felt the cool, lightness of the water begin to cling to her coat and dampen it. She pranced in place as she reveled in the mystery of it -- the mist wasn't quite a fog, though it wasn't really a rain either. It was new and different and neat. Wasp wandered through it carefully until the mist began to give way. In the distance she spied the edge of a vast, crystal clear pool of water. Near the center of it was an impressive rock formation, and a powerful series of waterfalls which gave this place its name. "Whoa." Was all the young filly could muster as she stared up at the falls, watching the seemingly endless supply of water tumbling down from giant overhead boulders, and crashing so delicately into the clear blue pool below. What she was most infatuated with was the sound of it all. It matched just how robust and commanding the water looked.

The bay filly took a few steps forward, marching along the soft and moist outerbank of the pool so she could inspect the falls from all angles. Eventually she lowered her head to drink from the relatively still waters. Then she slowly dropped one hoof into it, then another. The water was cold, not unlike the streams that came in the springtime at the Peak. But this was different. It wasn't run off from snow and ice. This was fresh, ever-flowing water. It was perfect. Wasp was too busy pawing and splashing in the shallow depths to have noticed a stranger was watching her. But his deep, hoarse voice cut through the pounding of the falls in the background with ease.

Wasp literally leapt of all fours and did an about-face, turning 180-degrees to face the stranger who stood so calmly at the bank of the pool behind her. She snorted once, then twice as she tried to regain her composure after being so startled. Her heart was beating so quickly in her chest she could hear it in her ears. The young filly studied the painted stallion from behind skeptical amber eyes, but didn't initially move to close the distance between them. Wasp had enough wits about her to understand that stallions were inherently dangerous, especially ones that lurked around by themselves on the Crossing Isle. They often made it their business to take mares, especially young ones, back to wherever they came from. "Yeah." She finally squeaks out, letting her gaze momentarily wander back to the falls behind her. "It's pretty cool." She confirms, and takes slow strides back to the bank of the pool, but still keeping her distance.

"Who are you?" She asks bluntly with the quick whip of her little tail.
