Here you can post questions, comments or concerns for the Global Mods. You can email us at lostislands.staff@gmail.com if the matter is private, though please let us know as this address is not checked daily. You are also welcome to @Global Mods in the Discord server, or message us privately, but please be patient if we are busy or not online.

This is where you need to post to officially put yourself on away. If you are going to be away from the site or unable to post regularly for an extended period of time, you may go on away for up to one month, during which your characters will be protected from things like battles, raids and escapes. After this you and your characters will be considered inactive, and you will need to rejoin should you return.

For the sake of clarity, please clearly state 'away' or 'semi-away' in the subject line of your post, and make a new post stating 'back' on your return. While you are away you cannot post in-character, and any in-character posts will be classed as you returning and your characters will no longer be protected from that point.

You may also let us know here that you are 'semi-away', meaning posts from you will be slow, but all normal rules still apply to you.

If you wish to quit the game, please leave us a message here to let us know, though be aware that any characters without lineage (i.e. those who were not born or bred in-game) will be deleted from the Members page. All other characters will be listed as inactive unless you request for them to be deleted.

Events every other season - Up until now we'd been aiming to do one disaster/predator event every TLI year, but I've been thinking for a while that maybe it wasn't often enough given the geographical spread of the islands. I'd definitely be up for raising the frequency, maybe even to one per season.

Participation prizes for events and govts - Hm, I'm not sure how I feel about this. We already give out prizes every TLI year for contests, and I think part of the appeal of them is that they are hard to get a hold of. Even now there are players who are starting to collect a nice little cache of unused prizes - which is great, because they earned it - but if we made it even easier to get prizes then we'd no doubt see this trend growing (because it tends to be the same few people who go for them) and the value of the prizes would go down, which could in turn mean less participation in future contests (because why compete if you have everything you want?). I would also hope that people got involved in disasters and govts because they were interested in the plots involved, rather than because they were getting something out of it, but I guess there's no reason for the two to cancel each other out. On a related note, I do recognize that a lot of players, me included, find it difficult to compete with the extreme activity of posting contests, and I do think it would be fair to find a way for non-competitive players to be rewarded... Come to think of it, I could swear we decided to give out prizes for players who win the featured member and character legend titles. I have no idea why we stopped doing that lmao

Site history - I'd be all for this. I think it would be good to have a short paragraph on the front page so that new members passing through could get a better feel of the place, and I also think it would be a cool way to include a dedication to Cimarron (the old island that we sank years ago).

Islands - Regarding the map, it's definitely been suggested a few times over the years. I think one of the main concerns regarding that was that it could be quite limiting in terms of creative freedom. However, if this is something everyone wanted, I wouldn't be opposed to it. Regarding territory descriptions and such - again, I think part of the appeal of keeping it vague is that it gives players free reign to describe them how they like. I do acknowledge that 'bay' and 'inlet' are super similar, but this personally doesn't bother me - I think the similarity was less obvious when we had more territories and more variety to choose from. I personally don't see the benefit of renaming any territories or islands, mostly because of the long history they've had here and how it could get confusing if we changed them. (EDIT: That said, the territories did used to have adjectives in their name - e.g. Rocky Ravine - and I'd be all for reinstating that as it makes them stand out more from each other and gives them a bit of description.)

Battles - I'm not really opposed to this, however I don't think it's really necessary given the fact that players are already allowed to give each other extensions if needed. Keeping the reply deadline to 4 days encourages players to keep the thread moving and get a resolution quickly, but it's not set in stone.

Those are my thoughts anyway! Thanks for the suggestions Pippa :3
