The water was much more refreshing in the Forest, that much Evaline knew for certain. Here on the Desert island, the pool collected water via the rain during the wet months, but otherwise the pond was seemingly stagnant. As such, it baked under the relentless sun, and felt more like a warm bath than a refreshing, crisp spring like she was used to on the Crossing Isle or Luthien. Despite this, the pool still offered a reprieve. The dry, hot temperatures of the Dunes made any body of water, no matter its temperature, enjoyable. As such, she reveled in it now, as her hooves sank into the murky sludge at the bottom, and the liquid rose to cover her legs, underbelly, and half way up her chest. The palomino mare studied Capricorn as he edged his way into the water. She cocked her dished face to one side as she examined his build. Despite his age, she could see how the speckled stallion would have been strong, robust and handsome in his younger years. Even now, he wore his age well. The wear and tear on his body made him seem, well, distinguished, of sorts. Admiring him in this moment made Evaline feel like a younger, more competitive mare. But the days of wooing stallions and rising the ranks of herd hierarchy were long behind her. There was nothing Capricorn had that Evaline could ever want at this point in her life, anyway, she mused. Except for his company, maybe. She offered him a brief smile when he reached her side in the pool. Her good ear swiveled forward at attention as she listened to him speak about his family here. Some of the names he mentioned sounded familiar. Wasn't Kasabian going on and on about a friend named Debonaire? She didn't want to know, honestly. She tried not to think about her slain son anymore. It was just too... complicated. Even now, with time between them. Evaline bobbed her head as Capricorn continued, logging away the names of Warsaw and Cullen for later use. They could be valuable to Persephone, or at least Shamwari. Sanibel, however, sounded familiar. "I think Sanibel lives in the Prairie with my son, Shamwari." She offers casually. "My family is strewn about too. My daughter, Vita Nova, just gave birth in the Prairie, but she comes and goes as she pleases." Evaline said with the roll of her eyes. She shifted her weight gently in the water. "Another son, Paradiso lives in the Bay on Tinuvel, but he's too busy to ever visit." She says with some vigor. "My ... daughter, Tayla lives with me in the Forest." She adds, feeling uncomfortable about publicly identifying the strange filly as her own. But it was true, and she saw no reason to hide such details from the stallion here. "Some are long dead, too. Familiar faces from another time here are long gone. But here we are, still." The mare takes a deep breath and watches as the strands from her long, thick tail float to the surface of the water, cascading around her rump and bob delicately along the side of her barrel. "So what will you do here? In the Dunes?" 17 | Arabian cross |14.2 | Palomino | Mother of Kasabian, Shamwari, Vita Nova, Paradiso, Ruxin & Talya | Vinyl |
