As discussed in the below-linked USNI News article, the year 2018 represents a twenty-five year low in aircraft carrier deployment for the U.S.

The article goes on to say that this lull in CV deployment is part of DOD's new Dynamic Force Employment (DFE) concept, wherein our adversaries are kept guessing as to the exact nature of the tactical deployment of our naval forces.
