Ophthalmology teaching registrar

Singleton Hospital, South Wales

An exciting opportunity is available within our Eye department at Singleton Hospital to work as a Teaching registrar.

This is a whole time post for a period of 1 year and is suitable for someone who has gained clinical experience in Ophthalmology and who has an interest in medical education. The teaching registrar would work under the educational leadership of Mr. Gwyn Williams, Consultant Ophthalmic Surgeon and Honorary Senior Lecturer at Swansea University.

This post can include an on-call commitment if desired, but this is negotiable. If undertaken this will include a post take ward round and time to address any issues that arise from the on call. There will be opportunities to contribute to clinics and some limited operative experience depending on the absence of other middle grades and trainees at the time. The primary focus of this post is to develop ophthalmic undergraduate medical education at Swansea and work with the clinical activity of the department to give an excellent teaching experience to our medical students.

The teaching registrar will have the opportunity to attend some of the Ophthalmology specialty teaching days in South Wales and to contribute towards departmental audit should they wish to enhance their CVs in this manner.
