With regard to the comments in the news media that both the Republicans and the Democrats in the Congress are worrying that Trump's declaring a national emergency over the border wall might set a dangerous precedent (e.g., that a future democratic President might ban the sale of all assault weapons by declaring the issue a national emergency), it is worth noting that thirty one national emergencies have been declared by Presidents since 1976. (See the article referenced in the above comment).
However---I guess it should be noted that none of these were domestic-related national emergencies. Replies:
