Lucia’s voice sounded far away and echoed in her head, the sight of her doubled, sometimes tripled before coming into focus as Myrria lifted her head again to try and look at her. ”Yeh… I s’pose I am alive, huh?” she retorted through slurred words, swinging her head back down as she coughed up more water. Streams of it mixed with her own saliva dribbled from her jaws as she looked back to her half-sister, her eyes squinting slightly as she realized the panicked state that Lucia was in.
”N-no, nono…” she stammered, ”Don’t worry ‘bout me. I hav’nt hurt a-anyone in a… looooong time,” she manages to finish her attempt at consoling her sister, even though it was not exactly what Lucia was concerned over.
Myrria haphazardly skidded back down into a laying position as she coughed once more, producing no fluid this time, which was a good sign. If anything, she just felt like utter shit at this point. Tears began to well up in her eyes, threatening to bead down her face any moment before she tried to speak again. ”I… I justttt wanted to feel ok, y’know? The feelings wouldn’t go… they wouldn’t go away, Lucia. Why wouldn’t they go away?” Her tone was heartbreaking, her eyes staring off into the dark depths of the rippling water, unable to force herself to look at her sibling while she admitted her deepest fear.
Lucia’s questions went in one ear and out the other, her worried tone evident, but Myrria couldn’t tell what she wanted… much less needed at this moment. If anything, she was finally beginning to come around from her drugged state and was making her way through the dark haze in her mind. ”I tried to be good…” she mumbled, almost too quietly for Lucia to hear. ”I am good… somewhere,” her voice becomes a whisper, raspy with the mixture of water still gurgling in her throat. ”I… I don’t wanna hurt anymore…” The tears break over her lower lid and intermingle with her already soaked fur, her eyes slowly drawing up to Lucia now, begging for some sort of comfort in the midst of her mental torture.
Whether Lucia understood who she didn’t want to hurt anymore, herself or others, was unable to be determined. But maybe someday she would be able to get the full story. Maybe when Myrria was stronger.
