Was I left behind?
Tell me, tell me I survived.

This world felt smaller. And dimmer.

No matter where he went, the copper-colored stallion seemed to butt up against the edges of this existence, unsatisfied with what he found or uncovered. The restlessness had taken root and only continued to grow and to pester. He felt it at first, deep within his gut. But soon it began to mask his senses. He'd stumble upon scents from his past: of Brienne or of his brother, Kasabian. Maybe some of the children who'd abandoned him, or vice versa.

He was suffocating within it.

Every part of his being told him to flee, to run, to gallop until he reached the sea, and to swim until he couldn't see the islands behind him anymore. His heart raced all night, as these desires consumed him. But still, here he stood. The Prairie felt as if it was shrinking. It got smaller every day. He couldn't stand being there any longer, clamoring of his right to breathe.

So the trips to the common lands became more frequent. But the loneliness, it seemed, hung over him like a dark cloud. It followed him wherever he went. He'd arrive at the Falls still damp from his travels, only to find the land as barren as Luthien.

What had happened to the world? He often wondered, even now, as his whiskered lips parted and he drank from the cool, still waters near the Falls. Whatever sickness had ravaged this place, why hadn't it taken him, as well? Or was he dead, too? If he was, where was Brienne? And Kasabian? Why could he find their scent among the trees, but never find them?

Perhaps he was dead. And this was his hell.
