Use caution when the wolf comes knocking;

Perhaps in another time, the dark colored stallion would have taken offense to the unease in which the elder mares gazed upon him. He was, after all, doing his best at playing the part of genteel host. He could have left them alone there on that beach, left them standing like drowned rats in search of shelter. Hell he could have run them straight back into the ocean, it was his right after all. But he did not. Not today. He was in a giving mood and well, for now the wolf was silent. It had already sated its hunger and even it feigned mild interest in the trio. If he really wanted to be the beast, he could force them into his small herd, he could place his mark upon their shoulders and herd them, especially the young filly into his small heram for the simple desire to spread his genes... but for now he would rather see how things go. After all, he had enough mares that hated the sight of him he did not need to add to the list if there could be alliances of sorts formed.

He watches with keen eyes the way the elder mare places herself between he and the mother and child. A single dial flickers as for the moment a silent conversation is held within their gaze as they stared at one another and then back at him. He dares for a moment to turn his gaze to the filly, a flash of sympathy dancing in his eyes for he always did have a soft spot for foals. A swim through the channels were tough even on adults, what had been so desperate that a mother would push her child to attempt the feight in a storm was beyond him. Perhaps at some point they might feel comfortable enough to share their plight, but for now, Macarbe seemed to see the sense in his offer and he obliged with a single dip of his head. With an encouraging smile he leads off once more, guiding the trio back to the small cavern and out of the diluge. Only when all three had stepped into the shadowed recesses and managed to shake what water they could from their pelts does he begin, clearing his throat to hopefully mask most of the gravelled baritone. "As I told your friend here, my name is Rougaru. This island is my home. What brings you to my shores on such a storm ridden day?" he inquires, his hansom features gazing at the two mares with true curiosity.
