Use caution when the wolf comes knocking; (Sanibel)

It had been some time now since first Rougaru had won his battle against Shamwari to take possession of his mare Sanibel. She was a pretty thing, with eyes as bright and clear as the new summer grasses and a coat that shimmered like the noon day sun. She was a meek creature, and aside from her initial outburst which he had quickly snuffed out, she kept herself clearly in the sights of himself and his small herd at all times. For a time, he kept a close eye on her, watching as she grazed solemnly near Vasilisa or ambled through the tall grasses along the shoreline with her gaze pointed towards the distant islands. He knew she longed to return to the Prairie and a small part of him felt for her, but not enough that he was willing to release her… at least not yet.

Like most other days, she stood with her nose to the winds, her soft emerald green gaze casting a longing look towards the horizon where they both knew Luthien lay just beyond the vale of blue ocean. She was not the spirited mare that his young painted bird was, she had seen the fierceness that was the wolf and had buckled beneath it, her eyes wide with shock and fear. She already was beginning to show signs of the child that he had planted there. Slowly her cream and white sides were beginning to swell and every now and then swore he caught the faintest signs of movement of life. A part of him beamed with pride, surely a child of their genes would be one worthy of his lineage, but then again, he knew that it would not be long now until she deserved the freedom to return to her stallion if that was her choice. She pined for him, of that Rougaru knew was clear, but he could not hide the smug satisfaction that grew in his belly that it was his seed that she would be returning to the Prairie with. Another splinter to fester beneath the copper stallion’s skin.

He goes to find her now. She had done her best to avoid the other members of his herd as of late. He had hoped, thin as it was, that when he saw her and the dark Vasilisa chatting that a sort of friendship would form and perhaps she would even decide to stay in Paradise permanently. But that hope was one short lived. Deep down he knew she wanted to return and well, he was not one to stop her. He had made his point.

Today he seeks her out. It was time to release her if that was her wish. Paper thin nostrils flare as the stallion lets a loud snort escape his nostrils. He finds her where he had already found her, casting her green eyes over the wide expanse of surf that separates her from the Prairie.

For a moment he stands in silence, letting his own multifaceted green eyes fix upon her gentle frame. She was a pretty little creature, her milky white tresses twisting and turning with each zephyr that passes across the islands. Sunkissed frame silhouetted by the bright morning sun, it made that deep hidden part of him begin to stir with a sense of longing. Not to dominate her, but to comfort her. That softened side of him wanted to curl his broad neck around her own and tuck her gently into his massive form. He wanted to protect her from the world and hide her away like some precious doll of porcelain. That was in a perfect world... not this one they lived in now.

The soft expression that had ghosted across his features disappeared in the moment and replaced with a sort of smug grimace. He presses into her personal space, comforted by the gentle swell of her barrel. Whiskered muzzle bumps lightly against her side, nudging her shoulder, "You still long for the open Prairie and the stallion that did not attempt to save you, don't you?" he asks, a haughty gleam dancing in his jaded eyes. He gives his proud head a shake, sending long cream and caramel colored locks tumbling haphazardly across the muscular curve of his coffee brown neck. Long tattered tail flicks back and forth against thick feathered hocks as the brute stomps a single hoof to rid himself of a particularly annoying fly before continuing again, this time his tone much lighter, a hint of amusement dancing upon his deep tenorred voice. "How is my child?" .
