hold me in this wild, wild world;

There is something about him that screams pain, something hidden deep behind his dark eyes that he does his best to keep buried deep away from the surface and any prying eyes. Perhaps at one time he is welcoming, perhaps even at one time he was an inviting stallion who willingly shared openly with his herd and the mares he claimed as his own. However, just as herself and many others, the years of life like the one that now lead them down the same path had a way of separating warm emotions from reality. Like this land, the world had a way of hardening the heart and even the most gentle spirit had to grow a heart of stone if to avoid an early death.

He nudges her forward and once more ears fall backwards admit the dark tangle of her mane. A defiant squeal peels from her lips as she takes a few prancing steps forward keeping a space between them to avoid his touch and the primal sensation is caused. She did not know him, not like she cared to. Did she really care? She shook her head. No, she would not. It was not in the fates to allow such concerns save for offspring alone. She was not sure she was ready for that, regardless of the dry hunger that burned through her loins.

He for the most part seemed to ignore her reaction, instead continuing on to explain to her about the herd. He advised her that there were two mares already that called the Bay home and that another would soon be on the way. Ears flicker at these words and a part of her wants to ask how he would know of such a thing but figures perhaps it best to simply be a silent observer for the time being. Surely things would be made clear in the near future. He guides her through the thickly grown forest, weaving in and around the thickly trunked trees until finally they part to reveal a large lake, its edges only crisped over with the first signs of frost. He explains the need to keep the waters from freezing completely and she snorts softly, her bright gaze glittering in amusement. "You act as if I am an unexperienced filly. I know the importance of water during winter months." she begins, pausing a moment to let her gaze travel over the serene scene that lay before them before rising once more to meet his gaze. "Just as I know how to find water when the lakes to freeze and not even hooves can find their way to the water beneath." she finishes with a snort. He binds his head to drink and feeling a bit more relaxed around him, she too dips her small muzzle to the water's surface and takes a small drink to quench her thirst.
