bring me back to life...

She was unsure in this new world. The islands were full of wonder, but also full of danger, it would seem. She'd only run into a total of two horses since her time here and both had been stallions. Of course, the one thing she feared above all else was the only thing finding her since coming here. It was like the world was telling her to face her fears or it would keep throwing them at her. Not that Requiem or Ruger were anything like her past. Neither seemed a bad stallion, but the fear wouldn't go away overnight. She needed to work through it. At first, she'd thought she just needed space. Space from other horses, especially stallions. But she was done with needing space, now. She needed structure now, a herd. She needed socialization, both with mares and stallions. In light doses, of course. It seemed she couldn't always get what she wanted, though.

She found herself on the Inlet shores, looking around for Requiem, unsure if she even wanted to find him right now. It just seemed right since he was the one who risked himself to bring her here. A part of her did feel bad for Ruger, though. She didn't know why, exactly. Because he was trying to be kind to her? She smelled the waves of tension on the island and it set her on edge. A rattling snort left her nostrils as her tail swished her flanks. Something had changed here and not everyone was happy about it. It was like a storm cloud on the horizon, just waiting to burst open and rain down upon the island. When she heard the nicker, she froze up and tensed, her head snapping around until wide eyes laid on Requiem. She watched him for a moment. He looked just as he had when they'd met before. He didn't stand straight and proud. He looked his usual awkward self. It settled her a little.

He said that he hoped he didn't take her from somewhere she enjoyed. In response, she rolled her shoulders in a shrug and shook out her mane. "I don't know that I was there long enough to figure out if I'd enjoy it." Ruger had just started the tour around the island when the battle cry came. She had been too scared of him at the moment to really pay attention to the things he was pointing out. Maybe she would have liked it there, but now she would never know. Maybe she could like it here. She was still too twisted in her turmoil. Requiem then explained, saying he was there when Ruger claimed her and that he saw how terrified she looked. The thought brought a little smile to her face before she looked away. It made her feel a little warm inside to know that he wanted to save her. No one cared to save her before. They all looked the other way like it didn't happen.

He was the first to do something about her fear. "T-thank you." She whispered the words as she looked at the ground, not able to look him in the eye when she said it but none the less, she wanted him to know that she appreciated his thoughts. Looking around, she gave another soft snort and finally met his gaze, if only for a moment. "What has happened here? Everything feels so...tense."
