To an extent, he could understand the protective nature Vihaan seemed to have for Everglow. He watched as she shifted closer to the blind mare, her savior and defender of her honor. He'd really only considered himself doing Everglow a favor by giving her a place to live. As a stallion, he didn't figure that needed to be a choice. If she was homeless and he had a place to put her, why not just stake a claim and take her there? It seemed like common sense to him, but he was learning more and more that mares didn't like not having a choice on these islands. Were mares always like this? Maybe, but he didn't remember much of it from his first year on the earth. He knew his threat to drown the mares if they ran would only make them hate him more, but it was a risk he was willing to take if only to ensure Vihaan stuck to her word. He didn't trust anything. After all, why should he? He knew both mares would like nothing more than to see him run with his tail between his legs at this point.

They probably both wanted him dead. Neither knew him and he didn't know them so there was no trust to be had. They had both already threatened him with family members on the other islands but he wasn't scared of some stallion competition. Hadn't he already proved as much with the scarred stallion's intervention? The more, the merrier, in his opinion. He loved any chance to show his strength and get a little horse flesh out of the bargain. It wasn't dog food, but the meat taste was just enough to curb his appetite for the moment. He listened as Vihaan tried to reassure Everglow, telling her that she couldn't ensure her safety if they tried to swim. His lips curled back in satisfaction, glad that she knew he would make good on his word.

He couldn't help but tilt his head a little in puzzlement when Vihaan asked the other stallion for forgiveness as well. What did he have to forgive? He was probably only here to either claim a mare himself or get in a few licks while he thought Cain was distracted. Cain didn't sense a noble bone in that stallion's body, but who knows? Maybe he was reading it wrong. When Vihaan turned to him, Cain gave her his full attention, ears pricked as she told him that she asked two things. His ears instantly flicked back in disapproval. "You are asking favors of me? You are already getting a bargain with me not endangering Everglow, and now you ask more of me? You mares are something else." He swished his tail in agitation but listened as she asked for his name and asked that she be allowed to take Everglow to her home. He scowled on the last words. How could he trust that she would return? She might just round up back up and not come back.

As if she knew how much he mistrusted her, she added on that she would come back. He shook his head. "I need more than that, Vihaan. I don't know you, just as you don't know me. Your word and mine mean nothing at this point. My name is Cain. I will only allow you to escort her on one condition. You have to take something of mine with you." His eyes glittered with mischief as he said it. He waited but a moment for it to sink in before he spoke again. "You offered to carry my foals." He added on as a hint, arching a brow as if to remind her of her word. He waited as she spoke to Everglow, speaking with finality now and letting her know that she would thrive in the Desert. He hoped to see that for himself. Only then did his head snap around to set on the stallion who sat back and watched. He had taunted the stallion and could see that he'd gotten under the male's skin. It seemed many of these island horses had no idea about humans. He could see the confusion in his eyes when he mentioned them.

When he told Cain that he should be thanking the women, Cain threw back his head in a laugh and stomped the ground with a fore hoof. "Then I curse their very presence cause I wanted another taste of your rotten flesh. If that's the only thing holding you back then wait one moment. Once they're gone, I'd love to see you try for my throat. We'll see who gurgles first." He sneered in the stallion's direction, excitement making his skin shiver. He watched as the stallion turned to Vihaan with confusion. Apparently, he didn't know what she was thanking him for, either. At least, it wasn't just him. He turned his attention to Everglow then. She didn't look like she believed him when he threatened to drown her. He'd be doing a good dead to society, really. He still didn't understand how she had survived this long. Did she not understand the concept "if I can't have you, no one can"? He was definitely going off that, or at least, he was before Vihaan was so polite as to offer herself instead.

At least, he would coming away from here another mare richer, and a pregnant one, at that. He really looked forward to seeing his children running in the desert sand. Cain could see that Everglow hated this helpless feeling. He watched her body tense when he accepted Vihaan's offer. She wasn't done fighting. Good, cause if she came after him then it wouldn't be breaking his promise to Vihaan. As she leaned closer to Vihaan, he thought he saw the glisten of tears on her cheeks and he snorted, pawing the ground impatiently. Emotions. Why did mares have to be so emotional? As she turned her rage on him, he snapped his teeth on the air toward her, though held his ground so Vihaan knew he wasn't actually going to attack her, not this time, anyway. It was meant to startle her, the sound of his teeth clashing together on what could have easily been her face if he hadn't just given his word.

"You are no longer in this conversation, unless you plan to be brought back in as a bargaining chip, so I suggest you shut the hell up. This is between me and my new herd mare." He turned his attention back to Vihaan. "That's the deal. Breed with me now and then I will allow you to escort her. You only have 2 days to return to the Desert or I WILL go after Everglow with everything I've got."

OOC: Just FYI, I'm not saying she only has 2 IRL days to post in the Desert. The point is that he gave her a time limit so if she takes her sweet time, he'll go back on his deal (:
