“Oh?” Persephone replied, cocking her head.

The description reminded her so much of Warsaw. She became apprehensive about meeting the other Salem leader, although she still planned to visit him after she was done talking with Shaydowfax – best to know potential enemies and potential friends before she made any final decisions as to which category anyone fell into.

“A disrespectful point of view. Although sometimes it pays for them to underestimate us at leaders, I suppose. I hope he hasn’t tried to cause you too much trouble?”

The conversation turned then, and at the mention of Warsaw’s name Persephone’s mind flicked into overdrive, alert and eager to learn whatever she could. She was impressed to hear that this mare had won against him in battle multiple times – she must be a strong fighter, and someone Persephone could well do with having on her side.

“Oh, I know Warsaw quite well,” she began, almost rolling her eyes. “I am not surprised to hear that he has been harassing you as well – he has his own vendetta against mares. He is actually part of the reason I am making this visit today – we had been in a battle back and forth for years now. He has harassed myself and my herd, and now my allies and Luthien as a whole to no end, and degraded me with the suggestion of blackmailing me into peace.”

She paused, gauging the other mare’s reaction. She felt almost lucky to have run into another of Warsaw’s victims, she might be amenable to the cause – or at least, highly unlikely to fight for the other side.

“It will come to all-out war soon. I am trying to spread the word, to warn those who might get caught in the crossfire, and of course to suss out who might side with Warsaw, or perhaps even find some more allies for Luthien along the way. I would caution you to keep your guard up, these are dangerous times.”
