He expected nothing less than an opinionated comment to come out of Nampeyo's mouth. He couldn't say the mare's personality was always attractive, but she had her good points. For some reason, she gave him the time of day and helped give his advice when he needed it. She would have helped him rule the Bay and stand-in for his shortcomings being a lead, but he never got the chance to see her in action. He wonders how Tavas would feel about her or if they would not get along.
Ears stand tall and open to catch all the words his mares had to say. Their answers were important to how he would move forward in the Inlet. Evie defiantly seems to be struggling, but her words manage to fill the air. He had to lean in and listen closely to hear her, but he got the just of what she said. A large smile spread across his face and he gives her a nod of his skull. Nampeyo then made her comment and he swallows hard. He does not particularly like someone talking down to Warsaw, but he would let her slide for now. If she continues her comments he may have to say something, but for now, that was not his worry. His worry was if the chaos going on in the Inlet made any of them feel unsafe or scared.
He was mostly worried about Evie when it came to feeling unsafe. He did not want any of them to feel uncomfortable in his choice to stay here and if they did, they were free to leave. Nampeyo says she will stay, but with a condition. He nods for now, but his eyes wander to Evie's reaction. He knew the mare would never try to dominate anyone so there was no worry in her getting into a fight with Nampeyo, but he could see how the spotted mare could make the draft feel uncomfortable. He was right as Evie takes some steps away from the mare. It saddened him in a way because he would love for all his mares to be friends.
"It is settled then. I, Requiem, promise to protect both of you for as long as you stay by my side." He stands tall as a dominate stallion might. "I look forward to getting closer to each of you." He smiles kindly to Nampeyo and Evanescence. He pushes some of his worries away as he favored his injured shoulder from Bjorn's bite. He would get Tavas back next season and then he could finally be at peace with all three of his mares. |
