where the wind blows

The silence that hangs like an ominous shadow causing the mare’s heart to thump a bit harder within her chest, but she holds her ground and waits patiently. Had he ignored her and left? Wren was just beginning to think she was a fool for standing there, waiting to the now still branches to speak back to her when his lupine like voice growled back at her.

Wren flicks her ears forward, her dished face raising slightly as she looks the scarred stallion over when he emerges from his hiding place. His words are foreign to her and she doesn’t understand, but surely what he speaks of is dangers. Why else would he warn her about it? “Then you should not be alone. she replied, but rather than shrink back in fear the mare takes a tentative step forward towards him. Nervousness crawls beneath her flesh making her heart race a bit faster, but her nerves do not show upon her face as she tries to be friendly.

Before anything else could happen, Liland appeared. He comes up alongside in a less friendly manner than she had given. His words; they confuse her for a split second before Wren realizes her mistake. This stallion was a stranger not a unfamiliar herd member as she had originally thought. Feeling foolish, she tilts her ears back and takes a small step back.
