Jabari's weary eyes search Calypso now, often when she's looking away. Meanwhile his heart is stammering away in his chest. Where did she come from? And why did she choose him to approach, above anyone else? He can see the melancholy expression on her face and guilt begins to roil him again. He didn't even know her, but he wished he could take it away for her. He deserved to feel this way, after all. Maybe he deserved much worse.
He lets his head come to rest in line between his knees, his withers becoming his highest point. The painted stallion licks at his damp, whiskered lips nervously as he watches her. He feels so vulnerable in this state, but there's nothing he can do now to hide it. He's too tired to do much anyway. This is just the state of who he is these days.
Finally, she speaks, and Jabari casts a worried side-eyed glare in her direction. His blue eyes search hers, then flick to the cool, nearly still waters at his hooves, which lap gently at the mud that made up the bank. "I know the feeling." He offers, remembering how good his life had been, with Petal and his fillies, back in the Prairie. He suddenly shuts his eyes and holds them tight, the wrinkles in his eyelids conveying a sharp sign of struggle. Part of him wished he could wipe his memory clean, so he'd stop feeling so awful when he thought about his family.
"But hey, if can only get better from here, right?" He says sheepishly, a weak smile findings its way to his pink lips for just a second. Jabari then breathes a heavy sigh, nickering slightly, in a way to try to lighten the mood. "If you want to talk about it... I'm here. And I don't know you, so how could I judge?"
