Evren is a little surprised to see something like reluctance or uncertainty in Scylla when she is posed with the question of whether they are related or not. Scylla’s sigh suggests the answer is complicated, but Evren wonders how complicated it could possibly be.
As Scylla finally reveals the truth, however, Evren lets out a breath of her own. Her eyes shine with a kind of feverishness as Scylla speaks of horses long gone. Evren had never met her grandsire, Encantador; he had died long before she was born, possibly even before Orhan was born, if she remembered correctly. But Evren can remember Orhan telling her about the infamous trio of Encantador, El Aran, and Daenerys. The three had been thick as thieves, and Dany had been Canta’s greatest love… but circumstances had torn them apart, over and over, until only Encantador and El Aran - Evren’s grandmother - were left. Evren has not thought of this story in years, but now she recalls it clear as day, and what Scylla tells her now matches up with it.
Evren’s mouth curls in a slow smile. “Was your mother Daenerys, by chance?” she asks, and for a moment she falls quiet, thinking how she had once thought she would never see a member of her family again. Yet in the last few months, she has found herself reunited with many of them. Even if she and Scylla are not related by blood, they are linked by history. And for Evren, found family is as important as any blood tie.
“I can’t believe I never knew this. It’s… sad, in a way, to think we could have been close, once.” Evren’s expression brightens. “But there’s no time like the present, I say. It sounds as though we have a lot of catching up to do.”
ooc: if you like, we can end this thread with your reply, and say that evren explained that, while she no longer lives in the desert due to bad memories, she knows that scylla would be welcome where she currently lives, the forest, if scylla is looking for a place to stay. and then maybe evren can take her there the following morning? ^^
