 Tell me, tell me I survived. There is a brief moment where we eye one another, assessing any possible need to identify weaknesses but this period passes quickly. The painted stallion bobs his head, and I let a short smirk cross my whiskered lips in response. I breathe a heavy sigh, the sides of my barrel rising and falling in one fell swoop before my right hip cocks high and the underneath ankle comes to fold into a resting position. My copper-colored ears flick forward at attention as the stallion speaks. His tone is casual and I appreciate his easy going nature. My thick red tail flicks back and forth over my rump as I listen, committing his name and title to memory. "Ah, the Desert." I say with a certain fondness. My thoughts flick briefly to the days of Orhan's rule and suddenly, I feel old. "Been there long?" I offer, with a short swivel of one ear. My honey brown eyes study him for a moment longer before flitting to our surroundings briefly. It seems with the threat of Warsaw's war, the time others were spending in these social common areas was fleeting. "My name is Shamwari." I say gruffly, my heavy head coming to rise sharply over my withers. "My home is the Prairie." I watch him again, waiting to gauge if there's any familiarity in his expression, but I am doubtful that there will be. This black and white stud seems fairly young, and his name doesn't ring a bell. He must be relatively new to the islands. "The Desert has a proud history of successful families here." I say. I hope I'm not the first to offer him this context of his new home. "Some of them are still around... But not many." |
